Any cirriped crustacean adhering to rocks, floating timber,
ships, etc., esp.
(a) the sessile species (genus {Balanus} and allies), and
(b) the stalked or goose barnacles (genus {Lepas} and

it hatched from the cirripeds of the sea ({Lepas}), which
